The Driving Book was written by Karen Gravelle and illustrated by Helen Flook. Contained in this book is all a new driver needs to know, even things a veteran driver forgets. And the book is small enough to fit in your glove compartment! This tiny guide informs you of what to prepare before buying your new car, how to maintain your car, heck, it even tells you how to negotiate driving privileges with your parents!
The best thing about this book is that you don't have to remember much, if any, of the information written. You can just place it in your future car after reading it once or twice and forget about it. If you ever need the book again, you can just take it out of your glove compartment and read the section of the book containing the information you need. This way, you'll have it handy in case of emergencies. Although this book cannot replace a driver's education course, nor is it intended to, it will help reinforce the things you will learn there. There are also tips in this book that not even driver's ed teaches you which will make driving safer and more fun for you.
Review:
When I read this book, I was astounded. There was so much vital information, and yet it was so easy to read and understand even though all that information was crammed into a mere 170 pages. It was actually fun to read! All the funny yet relevant illustrations and even the author's writing style all contributed to making this book the complete opposite of those 20-page history essays you either skim over or read at a snail's pace. This book contains useful information one would not even think of when considering buying, driving, and maintaining a car, and presents that information in a funny, engaging way.
This book was the best non-fiction book I've ever read! Haha, no wonder every reader keeps rating it five stars! This is truly the most useful book I've bought and probably one of the best buys of my life. This book is just that convenient! Like my fellow readers, I rate this book 5/5 stars and recommend it to all Frosh and upperclassmen. I hope you all enjoy this book and find it as useful as I do.
